10/10Fontainebleau
North end of the Strip, near the Sphere and the Wynn golf course7 min read
The newest hotel on the Strip, gorgeous property, a huge soaker tub, and a price that felt like a steal. Five stars.
Best for: Anyone who wants a brand-new luxury property, a great pool, and does not mind being at the north end of the Strip.

I checked into the Fontainebleau in a standard king and tried the 20 dollar trick at the front desk to see if I could get an upgrade. I checked in early with no early check-in fee and got put on a higher floor with a nicer view, so it was totally worth it.
As I walked in, everything was clean, tidy, and smelt fresh. The first thing I noticed was the high ceilings, which make the room feel even bigger, and I liked the aesthetic with the art on the walls and the lamps.
What I liked
- Brand-new property, the newest hotel on the Strip, and the design of the whole place is stunning and worth seeing even if you are not staying
- The room felt big with high ceilings, and the bathroom has a giant soaker tub I could fully submerge in at six foot six, plus a standing shower and a lit mirror
- The pools are top three on the Strip for me, maybe my favorite. Three large pools around a center bar with chairs, umbrellas, daybeds, and cabanas
- Great sleep, nice bed, and a casino floor with new high-def slots, table games, a sports book, and 15 dollar minimums
What to know
- It is on the north end of the Strip, so if you want to explore and do not like walking, the location might be a deterrent
- Resort fees and taxes stack on top of the room rate
The room and that tub
I was on the 33rd floor and the view impressed me. I could see the mountain range, the Sphere, and the Wynn golf course, and I loved the large windows. The high ceilings make the standard king feel even bigger.
My favorite part was the bathtub. It is a really big soaker tub, and after a long day of walking in 105 to 106 degree heat I drew a bath and relaxed for a good 20 minutes. I am a big guy at six foot six and I do not fit in most things, but I got in, fully submerged, and it was like having my own little mini pool.
Pools, food, and location
The pools are gorgeous. Three large pools centered around a bar with lots of chairs, umbrellas, daybeds, and cabanas. To me this is top three on the Strip, maybe my favorite pool spot so far. The Fontainebleau sits at the north end near the Sphere and the Wynn.
For dinner I kept it casual in the Promenade food hall at Capone's Burgers. I got the smoke show burger with caramelized onion, bacon jam, cheese, crispy onions, and pickles, plus loaded truffle fries and onion rings. Some reviews said it was not great, but the burger was really good and nearly filled me up on its own. Burger and fries was 27 dollars, which is reasonable for the Strip.
What I paid
I paid 159 dollars plus taxes and fees, about 220 all in, but they also gave a 50 dollar food comp. Take that off, since we all have to eat, and it is like 170 after taxes for the room. I think that is a steal, very comparable to something like the Wynn in almost the same location.
David's tip
Try the 20 dollar trick at check-in. I slipped a 20 at the front desk, checked in early with no fee, and got bumped to a higher floor with a nicer view. And do not skip that soaker tub after a hot day on the Strip, it was the best feature in the room.

Frequently asked
How much does a room at the Fontainebleau cost?
I paid 159 dollars plus taxes and fees, about 220 all in, with a 50 dollar food comp. Factoring that in it is like 170 after taxes for the room, which I thought was a steal for a brand-new property comparable to the Wynn.
Is the Fontainebleau location good?
It is at the north end of the Strip, near the Sphere and the Wynn golf course. If you want to explore and do not like walking it might be a deterrent, but the property, pool, and rooms are premium and there is still plenty to check out on that end.

Cheap bed on the Strip for around 80 dollars all in, but the room gets musty and there is not much to do. Three stars.

A budget pyramid with a great theme and a comfy bed. I give it a 3.5 and would pick it over the Excalibur any day.

Center Strip, great pools, and a fair price when you catch it. A solid 4.5 out of 5 for me.
