Wynn Las Vegas

North end of the Strip, across from the Fashion Show Mall, still walkable to center Strip7 min read

The verdict

One of my favorite properties on the Strip. Five stars, and a steal when you catch the right price.

Best for: Anyone who wants an upscale, elegant stay with a great bed and a lively property, ideally booked when the rate dips.

I booked a basic king at the Wynn so I could walk you through the whole property, and it started off great the second I walked in. It smelled clean, the ceilings were high, and the gold trim and decor made the whole room feel upscale and elegant.

This has to be one of my top properties, maybe my favorite so far. Here is the honest version of what you are paying for.

What I liked

  • I booked a basic king and they gave me a strip view on the 28th floor I did not even ask for, with huge windows and a view of the Plaza, Treasure Island, the mountains, and the High Roller
  • The bed was so comfy and the sleep was so nice, one of the things that stuck with me most
  • Gorgeous pools, two giant ones connected by a canal you can swim through, low music and a serene feel
  • Lively, fun atmosphere across the whole property, plus voice-activated Alexa controls for the TV, blinds, and lights

What to know

  • The table games run high, with 50 and 100 dollar minimums, so the casino is catering to a certain class
  • The poker room is on the Encore side, so you have to walk over there to play
  • Rates can climb, and the value really depends on catching a good deal

The room

I was on the 28th floor and the strip view honestly amazed me. Huge windows, and I was right in front of the Lake of Dreams show so I could watch it from my room at night.

The bathroom is gorgeous. Double sink, double mirror, a standing shower, a tub, and a separate toilet, which I love. Nothing bad to say about it.

The property and the Lake of Dreams

The Lake of Dreams show starts at 8 p.m. and runs every half hour with variations each time, and there is a free terrace you can walk out to and watch it without paying anything.

There are tons of places to eat, SW, Pisces, Red 8, and Delilah, but on the recommendation of an Uber driver I went off property to Happy Camper for pizza. The dough was light and fluffy and the whole thing was delicious.

What I paid

I paid 159 plus taxes and fees, which came out to just over 240. I think that is a steal, because a lot of other places on the Strip that are not as nice charge a very similar price. If you can get into the Wynn for a good deal, I absolutely recommend it.

David's tip

I booked a basic king and got a strip view on a high floor without asking, so it is worth booking the standard room and hoping for a good view. Watch the rate, because at just over 240 all in this was a steal for how nice the property is.

Quick answers

Frequently asked

How much does a room at the Wynn cost?

I paid 159 plus taxes and fees, which came out to just over 240. I thought that was a steal, since a lot of less impressive places on the Strip charge a similar price. If you catch a good deal here, I would absolutely recommend it.

Is the Wynn a good location?

It is on the north end of the Strip but not far north. You can still walk to center Strip, and you are right across from the Fashion Show Mall with the Grand Canal Shops in walking distance. I do not think it is a bad location at all.
