10/10The Cosmopolitan
Center Strip, next to the Bellagio and across from the Miracle Mile Shops and Planet Hollywood6 min read
Hands down my favorite room you can get on a comp, and the terrace off the bedroom makes it. Five stars.
Best for: Adults who want a lively center-Strip vibe and a balcony, especially if you play enough to get comp offers through MGM rewards.

I stayed in a king suite at the Cosmopolitan and tried the 20 dollar trick at check-in. I was already in a king suite so an upgrade was probably asking a lot, but what I got was early check-in, so early the cleaners were still in the room, and the front desk made sure I got in right away.
I got this room comped through MGM's rewards program at the sapphire level, and here is the honest version of why it is my favorite comp on the Strip.
What I liked
- My favorite part was the private terrace right off the bedroom, sliding the door open for fresh air and the lights of the Strip is something I cannot overstate
- On the 17th floor I felt like I had my own private viewing area of the pool, plus a strip view
- The suite has a big couch and lounge area with a big TV, and a separate bedroom with a sliding door to close it off
- Two pools on one property, the loud and bumping Boulevard Pool and the smaller Chelsea Pool
What to know
- It gets super busy, on a Friday night at dinner without a reservation I could not get into the sit-down restaurants
- The unconventional bathroom layout splits the sink, the toilet, and the shower-tub into separate spots, which may not be for everyone
- The young-adult party vibe means not a lot of kids around, so it is not the most family-focused property
The room
Everything was clean and tidy, with a big couch and lounge area, a separate bedroom you can close off with a sliding door, and that balcony, which is a huge plus.
The bathroom is not your conventional layout. The sink and mirror are in one spot, the toilet is in its own room, and there is a giant connected shower and tub with a window next to the tub looking out toward the Strip. I really liked it.
Location and food
The Cosmopolitan is center Strip, right next door to the Bellagio and across from the Miracle Mile Shops and Planet Hollywood, a really good spot if you want to explore the Strip.
It was a busy Friday night and I had no reservation, so I kept it casual at Lardo's in Block 16 and got the double burger with bacon and cheese plus dirty fries. The patties were thin smash style but there were two, well cooked, and the food came out quick.
David's tip
If you are not in MGM's rewards program, sign up and play a little so they send you offers. In my opinion this is hands down the best room you can get on a comp at a lower level, I got it at sapphire, and I would stay here over the Bellagio anytime.

Frequently asked
Can you get the Cosmopolitan on a comp?
Yes. I got my king suite comped through MGM's rewards program at the sapphire level, which is a lower tier, and in my opinion it is hands down the best room you can get on a comp unless you are at a much higher level. Sign up and play a little to get the offers.
What is the best part of a Cosmopolitan room?
For me it was the private terrace right off the bedroom. Being able to slide the door open, get fresh air, and look at the lights of the Strip from your own balcony is something I cannot overstate.
Keep planning your Vegas trip

Cheap bed on the Strip for around 80 dollars all in, but the room gets musty and there is not much to do. Three stars.

A budget pyramid with a great theme and a comfy bed. I give it a 3.5 and would pick it over the Excalibur any day.

Center Strip, great pools, and a fair price when you catch it. A solid 4.5 out of 5 for me.
