Planet Hollywood

Center Strip, across from the Bellagio, next to Miracle Mile Shops6 min read

The verdict

Big clean room, a surprisingly nice bathroom, and a great center-Strip spot. A 4 out of 5 and one of my favorite budget plays.

Best for: Anyone who wants a roomy center-Strip stay near the Bellagio fountains and Miracle Mile, especially if you catch one of the cheap nights.

I booked a basic king at Planet Hollywood and paid a little extra for the attraction view, which was well worth it. From the 30th floor I had the mountain ranges and a direct view of the Sphere, watching it change all night. Forget a Strip view, the attraction view costs less and is way cooler.

Walking in, no weird smells, just clean, and the room was big. Here is the honest version of what you get at this mid-tier budget price.

What I liked

  • Big, clean room with a table and chairs, a lounge area, a desk, and a mini fridge, which a lot of Strip places do not offer anymore
  • Surprisingly nice bathroom with a giant soaker tub, a separate stand-up shower, and a separate toilet, the kind of layout you usually only see in higher-end places
  • Excellent center-Strip location across from the Bellagio fountains and next to Miracle Mile Shops
  • Fun pool area with two pools, a surf simulator, and games like giant Jenga, foosball, and ping pong

What to know

  • The attraction view costs a little extra on top of the room rate
  • Rates swing hard depending on the day, climbing toward 300 on Friday and Saturday
  • The poker room was still under construction when I visited

The room

I was on the 30th floor and the attraction view was the move, a direct look at the Sphere plus the mountains in the distance. The room is genuinely big, with a table and chairs, a lounge spot, a desk, and a mini fridge so you can keep your own cold drinks.

The bathroom impressed me. A sink and mirror, a giant soaker tub, a separate stand-up shower, and a separate toilet room. That kind of split layout is something you usually only get at the higher-end places, so it stood out at this price.

Pool, casino, and food

The pool area is cool, two pools with one being 21 plus, a surf simulator, and games like giant Jenga, giant beer pong, foosball, and ping pong. The casino has a good slot selection, table games with 10 and 15 dollar minimums, and a sports book, with a poker room still under construction when I visited.

For cheap eats on property, Earl of Sandwich is one of my favorites with all sandwiches at 10 dollars. This time I went a little off property to Nacho Daddy for the fajita nachos and bottomless chips, and one platter easily feeds two people.

What I paid

I paid 79 dollars plus tax and fees, which came out to 149 all in, and I think that is reasonable for this place. Looking online the rate can drop as low as 27 dollars on certain days and climb toward 299 on Friday and Saturday, which lands near 400 all in. If you catch it at 27, you are stealing it.

David's tip

Skip the Strip view and pay for the attraction view instead. It costs less and you get a direct look at the Sphere changing all night. And watch the rate, because the cheap nights here can hit 27 dollars.

Quick answers

Frequently asked

How much does a room at Planet Hollywood cost?

I paid 79 dollars a night plus tax and fees, 149 all in. Rates swing a lot, as low as 27 dollars on some days and near 299 on Friday and Saturday. At 27 it is a steal.

Is the attraction view at Planet Hollywood worth it?

For me, yes. It costs a little extra but less than a Strip view, and you get a direct view of the Sphere changing at night plus the mountains. Way cooler than a Strip view.
