Taylor Dayne Announces First Las Vegas Residency at Harrah's

This is not a straight hits set. Harrah's and Dayne's team are billing it as a three act live production that mixes her catalog, including "Tell It to My Heart," "Don't Rush Me," "Prove Your Love" and "Love Will Lead You Back," with personal stories from a career that also includes touring, television, film and theater work.

Eight dates is a short run by residency standards, so if you want in, treat the presale window seriously. Caesars Rewards members and Ticketmaster account holders get first crack Thursday, everyone else waits until Friday morning.

Vital Vegas, which broke the residency news, made the case plainly: Dayne's core audience is women in their 50s through 70s, a group with disposable income, flexible schedules and a direct tie to the music she made famous, and per the site's reporting, that is also the demographic that drives the most slot revenue on the floor. Vital Vegas put it this way: "A show ticket isn't just a show, it's part of a complete resort visit," pointing to Donny Osmond's five year run at Harrah's as the model Dayne is stepping into.

It's a familiar Vegas formula. Book an artist who owns a specific era of music, let the nostalgia do the work of filling hotel rooms and restaurant tables around the show, and build a residency instead of a one night stop.

The November dates line up well with a pre Thanksgiving trip, and the December 29 to 31 run puts you at Harrah's for New Year's Eve on the Strip, which is its own kind of chaos worth planning around. Harrah's sits center Strip next to the Linq, so you're walking distance from the High Roller and the Linq Promenade if you want to build a full weekend around the show. Set a reminder for the Thursday presale if you're set on going, since eight dates for a first ever residency tend to move.
