Things to Do in Las Vegas with Kids
7 min read
People act shocked that anyone brings kids to Vegas, but the city has quietly stacked up a real list of family stuff. You just have to know where to steer them.
I have done the family version of this trip, and with a little planning it works. Here is the kid-friendly playbook.
AREA15 and Omega Mart
AREA15 is an indoor immersive complex with arcades, a zip line, and the surreal Omega Mart, which older kids and teens think is the coolest thing they have ever seen.
Check age guidance on individual attractions, but the space overall works well for families.
Thrill rides and the Adventuredome
Circus Circus has the Adventuredome, an indoor theme park with real roller coasters and free circus acts. The STRAT tower rides are a hit with brave teenagers.
The High Roller observation wheel is calm enough for all ages and a fun way to see the city.
Free spectacles kids love
The Bellagio Fountains, the Conservatory, the Venetian canals, and the Fremont Street zip line and light shows are all crowd-pleasers that cost little or nothing.
M&M's World and the Coca-Cola store are sugar-fueled stops that little kids ask about for the rest of the trip.
Get outside for a day
Red Rock Canyon has an easy scenic loop and short trails for burning off energy. Hoover Dam is a quick, educational half-day trip.
Go in the morning to beat the heat, and bring lots of water.
David X Las Vegas earns a commission on bookings made through this link, at no extra cost to you. It never changes my honest take.
Frequently asked
Is Las Vegas family friendly?
Parts of it are. Aquariums, AREA15, indoor theme parks, and outdoor day trips are great for kids. Just plan around the adult-focused areas and late nightlife.
Where should families stay in Las Vegas?
Circus Circus, Excalibur, and the family-oriented suites work well for younger kids. The Venetian and resorts with big pools are good for teens.
Can kids walk the Strip?
During the day, yes, and it is full of free spectacles they enjoy. After dark it gets more adult, with smoking, drinking, and street solicitors, so keep them close.
