Things to Do in Las Vegas in Winter
7 min read
Winter is the most underrated time to visit Vegas. The heat is gone, the crowds thin out after the holidays, and you can actually walk the Strip without melting.
Days run cool and sunny, nights get genuinely cold, and the city leans into the season harder than people expect. Here is what to do.
Walk the Strip in perfect weather
Winter daytime highs in the 50s and 60s make the Strip walkable in a way summer never allows. This is the season to do the long stroll from the Bellagio to the Venetian on foot.
Bring a jacket for the evening, because once the sun drops it gets cold fast in the desert.
Holiday lights and the conservatory
If you come in December, the Bellagio Conservatory goes full holiday, the Ethel M Chocolate Factory cactus garden lights up with millions of bulbs, and the Magical Forest at Opportunity Village is a local favorite.
These are some of the best seasonal displays in the country, and several are free.
Ice skating and seasonal rinks
Yes, Vegas does ice. The rink at the Cosmopolitan rooftop pops up for winter, and other resorts run seasonal rinks too.
Skating with the Strip skyline behind you is a fun novelty you cannot do any other time of year.
Day trips to the cold stuff
Mount Charleston is under an hour away and gets real snow, with sledding and a cozy lodge. It is a wild contrast to the desert below.
Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire are also at their best in winter, with cool temperatures making the hikes comfortable instead of brutal.
Shows, dining, and indoor everything
Winter is prime show and dining season since you are inside anyway. Book that Cirque show, the Sphere, or a long tasting-menu dinner without weather worries.
Pools are mostly closed, so do not come for a pool trip. Come for the city itself.
