Las Vegas Nightclub Dress Code: What to Wear

6 min read

The number one reason people get turned away at a Vegas club door is the dress code, and it is almost always the shoes. You can have a table booked and a guest list spot and still get bounced because you showed up in athletic sneakers. Do not let that be you.

Vegas club dress codes are stricter than people expect and they are enforced harder on men. Here is exactly what to wear at the megaclubs, what gets you turned away, and how to play the door.

01

What men should wear

Safe formula: dark jeans or trousers, a clean collared or stylish button-up or a sharp fitted top, and dress shoes or clean, fashion-forward sneakers. When in doubt, lean dressy. Nobody gets turned away for looking too sharp.

At the top rooms like XS, Omnia, and Hakkasan, the bar is higher. A collared shirt and real shoes are the reliable play. Dress like you are trying, because the door is judging exactly that.

02

What gets men turned away

The instant rejections: athletic sneakers, gym shoes, flip-flops, sandals, shorts, ball caps, beanies, athletic wear, jerseys, baggy or ripped-up clothing, and oversized chains in some rooms. The shoes catch the most people.

Hats and hoods are a frequent surprise rejection. Leave the cap at the hotel. It is not worth the argument at the door.

03

What women should wear

Women have far more flexibility, but the crowd at the top rooms dresses up, so lean nightlife-elevated. A dress, a stylish going-out outfit, and heels or clean fashionable shoes all work. Athletic wear and flip-flops are still a no.

The vibe at XS and Omnia in particular skews polished, so match it. You will feel better in the room dressed up than dressed down.

04

How strict is it, really

The big EDM megaclubs enforce hardest. More approachable rooms like Tao are a little more relaxed but still expect a real going-out look. Off-Strip and casual lounges are looser, but if you are reading this, you are probably aiming for the Strip rooms.

Bottle-service and table guests get more leniency, but do not count on it. Dress the part regardless.

05

Door tips that actually help

Dress up, arrive earlier rather than at the late crush, and be polite to the door staff and security. Attitude gets people bounced almost as fast as bad shoes. A calm, sharp-looking guest gets the benefit of the doubt.

If you are unsure about a specific room on a specific night, ask your host or promoter ahead of time. They will tell you straight what flies and what does not.

Quick answers

Frequently asked

Can I wear sneakers to a Vegas club?

Clean, fashion-forward sneakers can pass at many rooms, but athletic or gym sneakers will get you turned away at the major megaclubs. When in doubt, wear dress shoes.

Can guys wear shorts to a Vegas nightclub?

No. Shorts are an instant rejection at essentially every Strip nightclub. Wear dark jeans or trousers.

Is the dress code stricter for men or women?

Much stricter for men. Women have wide flexibility as long as they avoid athletic wear and flip-flops, while men get bounced for sneakers, shorts, hats, and casual clothing.
