Las Vegas in November: Weather, Events & What to Do

7 min read

November is a tale of two cities. Most of the month is quiet, cool, and a great-value time to visit. Then F1 weekend hits and the entire Strip transforms into the most expensive, chaotic, electric few days of the year.

Whether you want the spectacle or you want to dodge it entirely, the key is knowing exactly when the race lands. Let me break the whole month down.

01

The Weather: Cool and Comfortable

November cools off for real. Daytime highs settle in the 60s to low 70s, and nights drop into the 40s and 50s. It is jacket weather after dark.

The days are short and the sun is gentle, which makes it a great month for walking the Strip and being outside without any heat concern.

Pools are closed or basically winter-only at this point. A few resorts heat a pool or open a winter water experience, but pool season is over.

Pack layers. You will want a jacket every evening and possibly during the day in late November.

02

F1 Is the Main Event

The Las Vegas Grand Prix runs in mid-to-late November and it is the biggest weekend of the year, full stop. The cars race on a circuit that runs right down the Strip at night.

If you are coming for F1, book everything far in advance. Hotel rates spike to absurd levels, especially rooms with track views. The whole city is on race time.

If you are not coming for F1, check the exact dates and avoid them unless you want to pay triple for a hotel and deal with major road closures and crowds.

I have a full standalone F1 weekend guide. The short version: it is incredible if you plan ahead and budget for it, miserable if you stumble into it unprepared.

The Quiet Weeks Are a Bargain

Outside of F1 and Thanksgiving, early and mid-November is one of the best-value times to visit all year. Weekday rates are low and crowds are thin.

Thanksgiving week brings a bump in family travel and football crowds, but it is still nowhere near F1 pricing.

This is the time to splurge on a nicer room than usual, because the same suite that costs a fortune in summer or during F1 can be surprisingly reasonable on a quiet November weeknight.

What to Do in November

Shows are the move when nights are chilly. Sphere remains the headliner ticket if a residency you want is playing. Cirque's O and Mystere are reliable, and Mat Franco is the best magic value in town.

Sports are loaded. NFL Sundays pack the sportsbooks, the Golden Knights play NHL at T-Mobile Arena, and college football is in full swing. Circa's book is the spot for game day.

Eat well. November patios are crisp but pleasant at lunch, and the indoor dining scene is at its best when it is cold out. This is a great month to book the steakhouse you have been eyeing.

Day trips are excellent. Red Rock and Valley of Fire are cool and uncrowded. Bring a jacket for the morning chill.
