Go for a property with great rooms and adult energy, not a family resort. The Wynn and Encore are the gold standard for couples: beautiful rooms, the best resort grounds on the Strip, and a calmer, more grown up feel.
For a modern look, the Cosmopolitan terrace suites with their wraparound balconies and Strip views are hard to beat. The Waldorf Astoria (the old Mandarin Oriental) is the move for a quiet, no casino, no smoke retreat.
Book a room with a real view. A fountain view at Bellagio or a Strip facing room anywhere center Strip turns the room itself into part of the date. It is worth the upgrade.
Dinners worth dressing up for
Vegas has the best restaurant lineup of any vacation city in the country. For a couples trip, book at least one proper splurge dinner.
Top of the list: a window table at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Cliche? Yes. Does it work every single time? Also yes.
Other heavy hitters: Joel Robuchon at MGM for a once in a lifetime tasting menu, Carbone at Aria for old school glamour, or a quieter steakhouse like SW at Wynn. Reserve well ahead and dress the part.
Dates that beat the club
A show is the easy couples win. A Cirque romance like O at Bellagio, or a Sphere experience that gives you something to talk about for years.
A couples spa afternoon. The spas at Wynn, Aria, and the Waldorf are destinations on their own. Book the soaking circuit and disappear for a few hours.
Gondola ride at the Venetian. Touristy, sure, but a singing gondolier and a slow float through the canals is a better date than another round at the tables.
Sunset at Red Rock Canyon. A short drive out of town, the desert glows, and it is the most underrated romantic move in Vegas because almost nobody thinks to do it.
Romantic without breaking the bank
The Bellagio fountains and Conservatory cost nothing and are genuinely beautiful. A nighttime walk hand in hand past them never gets old.
Skip the bottle service. A great cocktail bar with a view, like the Chandelier at Cosmopolitan or a high lounge, gives you the romance without the four figure tab.
Happy hour at a nice restaurant lets you taste the high end without the full dinner price. Many of the best spots run one.
A picnic and a sunset drive at Red Rock is free, gorgeous, and the opposite of everything Vegas is supposed to be.
What couples should skip
The mega clubs unless you both genuinely love them. The crush, the cost, and the volume are romance killers for most couples.
Cramming the schedule. The best romantic trips have empty hours built in. Leave room to do nothing together.
