Free Things to Do in Las Vegas at Night
6 min read
Vegas wants your money, but the city accidentally built some of its best attractions for free. After dark is when the freebies actually get good.
I have spent whole nights here without paying for anything but a slice of pizza. Here is how.
Bellagio Fountains
Still the best free show on the Strip. The water dances to a rotating soundtrack every 15 to 30 minutes after dark.
Watch from the sidewalk, then go inside for the Bellagio Conservatory, which is also free and open late.
Fremont Street light shows
The Viva Vision canopy downtown is the largest video screen of its kind and the shows run on the hour into the night.
Live cover bands play the street stages for free between shows. Downtown is the best free entertainment value in the city, full stop.
The Sphere from the outside
You do not need a ticket to enjoy the Sphere. The exterior LED skin lights up nightly with everything from giant eyeballs to brand takeovers.
Best viewing is from the pedestrian bridges near the Venetian or from the High Roller area at the LINQ.
Casino spectacles you can walk through
The Venetian canals, the Conservatory, the AREA15 exterior lights, and the volcano-era theming around the Strip are all free to wander.
Stop at Resorts World and Wynn just to see the lobbies. Some of these casinos spent hundreds of millions on décor you can enjoy for nothing.
People-watch on the pedestrian bridges
The overpasses at major intersections like Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo are prime spots for street performers and the best skyline photos.
Bring a few singles if you want a picture with a costumed character, but you can also just enjoy the chaos for free.
Frequently asked
Are the Bellagio Fountains free at night?
Yes, completely free. They run more often in the evening, roughly every 15 minutes after 8pm, with full shows on the half hour.
Can you see the Sphere without a ticket?
Absolutely. The entire exterior is a giant screen visible from across the area, and the nightly visuals are a free attraction on their own.
What is the cheapest fun night in Vegas?
Head downtown to Fremont Street. The light shows and live music are free, and drinks there cost a fraction of Strip prices.
