Best Observation Decks in Las Vegas for City Views

7 min read

Vegas looks completely different from up high. The Strip's chaos turns into a glowing river, the desert mountains frame the whole valley, and at sunset the whole thing goes gold then neon. There are several ways to get the view, and they are absolutely not equal.

I've been up all of them more times than is reasonable. Let me rank the real observation decks and view spots by what you get for your money, how bad the crowds are, and which one is the right call depending on whether you want height, romance, or a free drink with your panorama.

01

The STRAT SkyPod: Highest in the City

Nothing else is close on pure altitude. The STRAT tower stands over 1,100 feet, making the SkyPod the tallest observation deck west of the Mississippi. You get indoor and outdoor levels, a full 360 view of the valley, and on a clear day you can see for miles.

The catch is location. The STRAT sits at the far north end of the Strip, away from the main action, so you're making a trip. But the view rewards it, especially at night when the entire Strip lines up below you like a runway.

It's mid-tier priced, and you can bundle it with the thrill rides on top if you want to dangle off the edge. For the best raw view in the city, this is my pick.

02

The High Roller: The Giant Wheel

The High Roller at the LINQ is the tallest observation wheel in the country at 550 feet. It's not a fixed deck, it's a 30-minute rotation in a climate-controlled glass pod, which makes it the most comfortable option in summer.

The pods are roomy, the views of the central Strip are excellent, and the slow rotation gives you every angle. The killer feature is the Happy Half Hour ticket, where your pod has an open bar with a bartender. Unlimited drinks for 30 minutes while you float over the Strip is a genuinely great deal.

It's mid-tier priced, more at night and for the open-bar pod. Central location, easy to reach, and the most date-friendly of the bunch.

03

The Eiffel Tower Viewing Deck: Best Central View

The deck at Paris Las Vegas sits about 460 feet up, halfway down the Strip, directly across from the Bellagio fountains. That last part is the magic: from this deck you look straight down onto the fountain show, which you can't do from anywhere else.

The view here is arguably the best-composed on the Strip because you're in the middle of everything, not at one end. The Bellagio, the Strip stretching both directions, the mountains beyond.

It's mid-tier priced and gets busy, especially around fountain show times and sunset. Time your visit to a fountain show and it jumps to the top of the romance rankings.

Free and Cheap Alternatives

You don't always have to pay. Several hotel bars deliver killer views for the price of a drink. The lounges high up in Resorts World, the bar at the top of the Delano, and various rooftop pools and bars give you elevation without a ticket.

For downtown, the Circa Stadium Swim area and various high-floor bars give you a different angle on the Fremont skyline. And honestly, a strategically picked high-floor hotel room can be your free observation deck for the whole trip.

The trade is height and the full 360. A bar view is usually one direction through glass. But for cost-conscious travelers, a cocktail at a sky bar beats a ticketed deck on value.

Which One Should You Pick?

Want the highest, most jaw-dropping view? The STRAT SkyPod. Nothing tops it for sheer altitude and the full-Strip lineup.

Want comfort, a drink, and a date? The High Roller with the open-bar pod, or the Eiffel Tower deck timed to a fountain show. Both are central and both are romantic.

Want to spend nothing extra? Find a high sky bar, order one cocktail, and enjoy. My overall ranking: STRAT for the view, High Roller for the experience, Eiffel for the location. You can't really go wrong, just don't do all three in one trip unless heights are your hobby.

Frequently asked

The STRAT SkyPod, sitting over 1,100 feet up at the top of the STRAT tower at the north end of the Strip. It's the tallest observation deck west of the Mississippi.

The Eiffel Tower viewing deck at Paris Las Vegas. It sits directly across from the Bellagio, so you look straight down onto the fountain show, which no other deck offers.
