Best Bars in Downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street (2026)

7 min read

Downtown is where Vegas keeps its soul. The drinks are cheaper, the rooms have actual character, and Fremont Street gives you a free outdoor party that the Strip charges a fortune to imitate. If you only drink on the Strip, you are missing the better half of the city.

Here is my map of the best bars in Downtown Las Vegas and on Fremont in 2026, from hidden cocktail rooms to dive bars that have not changed in decades. Mix and match these and you have the best bar night in the city for half the money.

01

The Laundry Room (hidden inside Commonwealth)

Start with the best. The Laundry Room is a tiny reservation-only speakeasy hidden inside Commonwealth on Fremont East, with a password, strict no-photo rules, and a cocktail program that is the best downtown.

Book ahead, because it seats only a couple dozen people. While you are at Commonwealth, the rooftop upstairs is also one of the best places to look out over Fremont East.

This is the cornerstone of a serious downtown drinking night.

02

The Fremont East district bars

Fremont East, the blocks just past the famous canopy, is where the locals and the better bars live. This stretch has the cocktail rooms, the craft beer spots, and the patios, away from the cover-band chaos of the main Fremont Street Experience.

Bar crawl this district on foot. The bars are close together, the prices are fair, and the crowd is more locals-and-regulars than tour groups. This is the real downtown nightlife.

It is the antidote to the Strip: walkable, affordable, and full of personality.

03

Dive bars and classics: Atomic Liquors

Atomic Liquors is the oldest freestanding bar in Las Vegas, and it is a genuine landmark. Back in the day people watched atomic tests from the roof. Today it is a perfectly cool spot for a cheap drink with real history baked into the walls.

This is the downtown dive done right. No gimmicks, fair prices, and a story in every corner. Put it on your list.

04

The Fremont Street Experience party bars

Under the giant canopy on Fremont Street proper, the vibe is a loud, cheap, outdoor block party. The bars here are about volume and energy, not craft. Frozen drinks, cover bands, and the zipline overhead.

Treat this as the spectacle, not the destination for a good drink. Grab a cheap beer, watch the canopy light show, then walk a block to Fremont East when you want an actual cocktail.

05

How to do a downtown bar night

Start on Fremont East for cocktails, drift to the main Fremont Street canopy for the spectacle and a cheap beer, then circle back for a nightcap. That order keeps the good drinks at the start and end.

Bring cash and walk. Everything downtown is close together, the prices are a fraction of the Strip, and walking between spots is half the fun.

Book the Laundry Room ahead if you want the standout cocktail experience. Everything else downtown you can do on the fly.
