Waymo Now Connects Las Vegas to Reid Airport

Saturday, October 24, 2026·3 min read

Waymo has started limited rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport, with dedicated pickup and drop-off zones at both terminals.

Waymo has added Harry Reid International Airport to its Las Vegas service, which is a real change for travelers who already use the driverless ride service in town. The catch is important: airport trips are not open to every visitor yet. Current Waymo riders in Las Vegas have access first, with more riders to be added over time before a full public rollout.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal and TechCrunch independently reported the October 21 launch. Pickups and drop-offs use dedicated autonomous-vehicle zones on Ground Zero Level at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. That gives eligible riders a specific airport connection, but it is not a replacement for taxis, rideshares or the other airport options until the service is available more broadly.

What Has Changed At The Airport

The practical news is not that Waymo can now appear anywhere around the airport. The service has designated zones at the Ground Zero Level of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, according to the Review-Journal. If you are an eligible rider, that is where the app should send you for a pickup or drop-off. It is worth checking the app before you leave baggage claim or head to the terminal because the airport has not announced a date when access will extend to everyone.

TechCrunch reported that the airport trips are initially limited to a small group of riders. Harry Reid's own Waymo page says current Las Vegas users now have airport access and that additional riders will be welcomed over time. That wording is the part visitors should take seriously. A Waymo car may be a useful option if you already have access, but do not arrive with no backup plan assuming the airport route will be unlocked for a new account.

Where A Ride Can Actually Take You

Airport access connects to Waymo's existing Las Vegas coverage rather than opening a trip to every corner of the valley. The Review-Journal describes the service area as 24 square miles, centered mainly on the resort corridor with coverage that includes Chinatown, Allegiant Stadium and the area near UNLV. That can make it relevant for plenty of hotel stays, but the destination still has to be inside the active service area when you request the ride.

Waymo only began offering public rides in Las Vegas in September, TechCrunch reported, so the airport addition has arrived quickly. It is also the second autonomous ride-hailing service approved to serve Reid Airport, according to the Review-Journal. Zoox already operates there. For a visitor, that does not mean one service will always be easier or cheaper. It means the airport now has another specialized pickup option, subject to each company's availability and app access.

How To Use This Without Missing A Flight

Treat the app as the source of truth on travel day. Check whether you are eligible, confirm the terminal and look for the Ground Zero Level zone before you start walking with luggage. If the service is not available to you, switch to a taxi, standard rideshare, shuttle, rental car or another confirmed option instead of spending time trying to force an airport request through. Limited access is still limited access, even when a service has officially launched.

For a trip into town, Waymo can be a nice extra choice when your hotel is within its service map. For a return flight, leave the same timing cushion you would use with any ride service. The new airport connection is useful because it turns a service already operating around the resort corridor into a possible terminal-to-hotel ride. It is not yet a universal airport transfer. Until Waymo says the rollout is open to all riders, visitors should see it as an option to check, not the one transportation plan to build a whole arrival around.

My bottom line

Waymo now offers limited rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport for current Las Vegas riders, using Ground Zero Level zones at Terminals 1 and 3. More riders are expected to gain access over time, but there is no public date for a full rollout, so keep a backup airport transportation plan.
